Babachir Lawal: Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket to Win 2027

Babachir Lawal, who previously served as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, expressed his belief during an interview with Symfoni TV that a presidential ticket comprising Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso would have a 70% chance of winning the 2027 presidential election. In contrast, he assessed President Bola Tinubu's chances at 50% and stated that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar would not win, predicting a zero percent chance for Atiku.

Lawal emphasized that while individually, Obi and Kwankwaso might struggle, their pairing would be more effective. His comments followed a fallout with Atiku after Lawal's resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he alleged that the primary election that nominated Atiku was fraught with irregularities, claims that the ADC has denied.
