Lawal: Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Has 70% Win Chance in 2027

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, expressed during an interview with Symfoni TV that a joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso would have a 70% chance of winning the 2027 presidential election. He contrasted this with his predictions for other candidates, stating that President Bola Tinubu would have a 50% chance, while former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar would have no chance of winning.

Lawal emphasized that both Obi and Kwankwaso would perform poorly if they contested separately, hence his pairing of them. He firmly stated, “Definitely, Atiku will lose,” and expressed a desire for Atiku to lose the election.

These comments follow Lawal's fallout with Atiku after his resignation from the African Democratic Congress, where he alleged that the primary election that nominated Atiku was fraught with irregularities, a claim that the party has not officially acknowledged.
