PDP and Sowore Celebrate Rescue of Abducted Oyo Students

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress welcomed the safe return of pupils and teachers abducted in the Orir local government area of Oyo State. The PDP described the return as a positive development while acknowledging the tragic circumstances surrounding the abduction.

They commended the efforts of various individuals and organizations involved in the rescue operation, which lasted 57 days. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde referred to the rescue as a significant relief, confirming that the operation was coordinated without yielding to the kidnappers' demands.

Special Adviser to the President, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that eight suspects had been arrested and were in custody, while several others were neutralized during the operation. The PDP emphasized the need for stronger measures from the federal government to prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety of educational institutions.
