Nonye Soludo Refutes Peter Obi's Godfather Claim

Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, has publicly denied claims made by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, regarding his status as a godfather to her children. In a statement released by her Media Assistant, Daniel Ezeigwe, Mrs. Soludo clarified that while Peter Obi's wife is the godmother to her daughters, this does not confer godfather status upon Peter Obi.

She referenced the canon laws of the Catholic Church, explaining that baptismal sponsorship is assigned on an individual basis. Mrs. Soludo stated that the Church's rules are clear: a husband does not automatically become a godfather simply because his wife is a godmother.

She criticized those interpreting the relationship differently and emphasized that the official designation of sponsors is what the Church recognizes, not social interpretations or political affiliations.
