Kwara Petrol Prices Drop Amidst Fierce Competition

In Kwara State, petrol retailers have begun cutting prices as competition among filling stations intensifies. A recent survey revealed that prices for premium motor spirit (petrol) range from ₦1,120 to ₦1,175 per liter.

Luka Abanik's station sold petrol at ₦1,120, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) offered it at ₦1,125. Other prices included ₦1,145 from Shafa, ₦1,155 from AP, and ₦1,160 from Bova.

The highest price recorded was ₦1,175 at ATGRI. Motorists, particularly commercial drivers, are benefiting from these lower prices, leading to increased patronage at stations like Abanik's.

Hajia Abdullahi Aduni, a housewife, called on relevant authorities to ensure that Nigerians are not subjected to excessive fuel prices, especially as petrol prices previously exceeded ₦1,400. The competition is driven by market pressures and the need for the government to engage stakeholders in the downstream sector to ensure price transparency and reduce costs.
