Fernandes and O’Reilly Shine at 2026 PFA Awards

At the 2026 PFA Awards held at the Manchester Opera House, Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United was awarded the men’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year, recognizing his pivotal role in the club's turnaround during the 2025/26 season. He scored nine goals and set a new single-season record with 21 assists, surpassing the previous record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Under the management of Michael Carrick, Manchester United finished third in the Premier League, securing Champions League football for the next season. This award marked the first for Manchester United since Wayne Rooney in the 2009/10 season.

Nico O’Reilly of Manchester City won the men’s PFA Young Player of the Year after a breakout season, making 53 appearances, scoring nine goals, and providing six assists. His versatility was highlighted as he adapted to a left-back role under Pep Guardiola.

O’Reilly was also included in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup and named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
