ICPC Completes Investigation into 'Phantom' Council

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has completed its investigation into the controversial 'phantom' council, following a directive from President Bola Tinubu on July 7, 2026, to submit a report within 30 days. The prime suspect, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the director-general of the purported council, was interrogated at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) headquarters in Guzape, Abuja.

His interview was delayed due to his lawyer's late arrival. Adeyemi has appealed to the House of Representatives ad hoc committee, chaired by Hon.

Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, to allow him to testify, asserting that any report produced without his input would be fundamentally flawed. The committee has indicated it uncovered extensive document fraud and plans to finalize its investigation after verifying information with relevant government agencies.

The ICPC spokesman, John Odey, was unavailable for comment regarding the investigation's conclusion.
