IGP Disu Explains Adeniyi's Absence from Reps Panel

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, communicated to the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee that he could not produce Adeniyi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), due to ongoing investigations into allegations of conspiracy and forgery. This information was relayed in a letter read by the committee's Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, during a session on Wednesday.

The police confirmed that Adeniyi's detention is based on a valid court order, which prevents his release or appearance before the committee. Gagdi emphasized that the committee was aware of the constitutional principle of separation of powers and would not interfere with the active criminal investigation.

He clarified that the committee made the police's letter public to dispel any misconceptions regarding Adeniyi's absence from the summons issued by the National Assembly. The committee acknowledged the necessity of this clarification for the public and media.
