House of Reps Warns Agencies on PFIPC Investigation Compliance

The House of Representatives, through its ad hoc committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), has issued a final warning to federal ministries and agencies that do not comply with summons. Chairman Yusuf Gagdi stated that failure to appear before the committee represents a serious affront to the constitutional oversight authority of the National Assembly.

He reminded agencies that their legal obligation to comply with the committee's invitation is clearly established under Sections 88 and 89 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Gagdi emphasized that any agency failing to comply without lawful justification would face the full weight of the law, including potential sanctions.

The committee is conducting its investigation impartially and aims to establish facts surrounding the PFIPC's operations, which have come under scrutiny for allegedly functioning without formal establishment. The committee expects cooperation from all relevant agencies to ensure accountability and uphold the rule of law.
