Reps to Unveil Findings on Alleged Fake PFIPC

The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee, led by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, is preparing to unveil its preliminary findings regarding the alleged establishment and operations of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). This follows 33 days after Gagdi's commitment to disclose the report post-investigative hearings involving senior government officials.

The committee was formed after a motion highlighted the PFIPC's inclusion in the 2026 Appropriation Act, which allocated approximately N1.3 billion, despite the Presidency's assertion that no such agency exists. The committee also scrutinized a reported N27.4 billion take-off grant for the PFIPC.

Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service, testified that the PFIPC occupied an office space allocated to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and revealed that documents presented by the alleged Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, were forgeries. Mr. Tanimu Yakubu, Director-General of the Budget Office, clarified that while the National Assembly appropriated funds for the PFIPC, no financial transactions occurred due to incomplete statutory conditions.
