State House Denies Involvement with PFIPC Creation

On Thursday, the State House denied any involvement in the creation or budgetary processes of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) during an investigative hearing at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. Abdulkadri Idris, the Director of Administration representing the Permanent Secretary of the State House, informed lawmakers that the presidency neither initiated nor authorized the establishment of the PFIPC.

He stated that the State House did not send any correspondence or request to the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation for a budget code for the council, asserting they were unaware of its existence until it appeared in the media. Idris emphasized that the State House has no statutory responsibility for establishing government agencies and described the documents presented to the committee as fraudulent.

The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee is investigating how the PFIPC was allegedly created and integrated into the Federal Government’s administrative and budgetary processes despite questions regarding its legal status.
