Presidency Links Internal Collaborators to Adeyemi Fraud

The Nigerian Presidency has issued a statement regarding Adeyemi, who is charged in court for maintaining 34 bank accounts under fictitious government agencies. The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga highlighted that internal collaborators facilitated Adeyemi's fraudulent activities.

The Presidency clarified that Adeyemi was not appointed as the Director General of any agency and emphasized that the Nigerian Foreign Mission and financial institutions are not affiliated with the federal government. Ajayi Adeniyi, an expert, noted that the system's failure allowed Adeyemi's scheme to flourish, and investigations by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are underway to unravel the criminal network.

The investigations aim to identify all collaborators and ensure accountability for their roles in the fraud.
