Nigerian Troops Recapture Borno Base After Boko Haram Attack

Nigerian troops have recaptured the Ngosh military base located in Gwoza, Borno State, after a renewed offensive against Boko Haram insurgents. This operation follows a recent attack that killed 14 soldiers and reportedly abducted 100 women and children, raising security concerns in the northeast.

Military sources indicated that troops had to temporarily withdraw to prepare for a large-scale counterattack against the insurgents. General Christoph Musa, the Minister of Defence, met with military leadership in Abuja to discuss the resurgence of terrorist attacks in Borno State and agreed to review operational strategies to intensify the fight against insurgents.

The meeting involved senior military officials, including four-star generals, and was held behind closed doors. Reports indicate that no fewer than four lieutenant colonels were killed during the recent attacks, and hundreds of civilians remain captives following the raids.
