Nigeria's CNG Initiative Attracts $980M Investments, 20K Vehicles Operational

The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative in Nigeria has attracted over $980 million in investments, leading to the operation of 20,000 CNG-powered vehicles. The initiative, overseen by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), aims to drive cost savings, create jobs, enhance energy security, and promote environmental sustainability.

A specialized mechatronics training program was recently concluded in Makurdi, Benue State, to equip individuals with advanced skills for the repair and maintenance of modern vehicles, particularly CNG-powered ones. The initiative also includes motorcycle training to target the youth and promote the adoption of CNG vehicles, especially in the mass transit sector.

A total of 315 conversion centers have been established across the country to support this initiative.
