Pinnick Commends Adamu's CAF General Secretary Appointment

Amaju Melvin Pinnick, the Deputy Chairman of FIFA's Men's National Team Competitions Committee and former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), praised Samson Adamu for his elevation to the position of Acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Pinnick, who has served on the CAF Executive Committee, noted that this appointment marks a historic moment as it is the first time a Nigerian will hold such a prominent position within CAF.

He expressed confidence in Adamu's ability to deliver on the responsibilities of the role, urging him to carry out his duties diligently and without bias. Adamu's appointment follows the resignation of Congolese lawyer Veron Mosengo-Omba amid controversy surrounding CAF's decision to strip Senegal of the AFCON 2025 title.

Adamu's name was proposed to the CAF Executive Committee for ratification at a congress scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Giza Palace Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.
