Pitstop Community Launches First Triathlon in Lagos

The Pitstop Community organized its first triathlon event in Lagos, specifically at Pitstop Village, which took place on a Sunday. The triathlon comprised three stages: a 150m swim, a 20km cycling stretch, and a 2.5km run.

The event aimed to promote healthier lifestyles and develop grassroots sports in Nigeria, with a total prize money of N2 million to attract both amateur and experienced athletes. Aminadab Adegboro, the founder of Pitstop Community, emphasized the initiative's goal to foster a strong fitness culture in Lagos and nurture emerging talent.

Wale Oladunjoy, president of the Nigeria Triathlon Union, highlighted the event's positive impact on the sport's development in the country and the urgent need for improved infrastructure to support competitive sports. Prey Dede emerged as one of the top finishers despite competing with a spinal injury.

The organizers plan to host the triathlon quarterly and expressed gratitude to sponsors for their support.
