Plateau: Amnesty International alleges over 1,300 people killed in three months

Amnesty International has reported that over 1,300 people, including women and children, have been killed in various attacks by bandits and terrorists in Plateau State over the last three months. The human rights organization highlighted the continuous attacks by Fulani militia in areas like Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, and Bassa Local Government Areas.

The report revealed that between December 2023 and February 2024, at least 533 women, 263 children, and 540 men were killed, with many others displaced. Despite efforts by security forces, the attacks have continued, with the recent incident in Chakfem community resulting in 15 deaths.

Amnesty International called on the Federal and state governments to enhance security measures to prevent further bloodshed in the vulnerable rural communities of Plateau State.
