Dakur Leaves APC, Joins ADC for 2027 Governorship Race

Chief Jude Eli Dakur, a notable chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, has announced his resignation from the party to contest the 2027 governorship election under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This declaration was made during a stakeholders' meeting held in his hometown of Kerang, located in the Mangu Local Government Area.

Dakur, a former commissioner, expressed that his decision to leave the APC was driven by the need to pursue a people-oriented vision and to focus on inclusivity and sincerity in governance. His departure comes shortly after another APC stalwart, Brig Gen John Sura, resigned from the party, having been a former governorship aspirant in the 2023 elections.

Sura's resignation, which occurred three months prior, did not provide specific reasons but reflects ongoing internal crises within the APC, which political analysts believe could lead to further defections. Dakur's move marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Plateau State.
