General John Sura Leaves APC for ADC Ahead of 2027 Election

General John Sura, a retired brigadier and former governorship aspirant in Plateau State, has officially announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in pursuit of the 2027 governorship ticket. Sura, who previously left the People's Democratic Party, submitted his resignation letter dated March 21, 2026, to the APC chairman of Panyam Ward, stating that his exit from the party takes immediate effect.

In a statement to journalists, Sura highlighted leadership failure within the APC as a primary reason for his departure, emphasizing the urgent need for a regime change in Plateau State to address ongoing insecurity and economic challenges. He expressed his intention to contest for the governorship, dismissing the notion that the current wave of defections from the APC guarantees electoral victory in 2027.
