Plateau State Eases Curfew in Jos North Amid Security Gains

The Plateau State Government has announced a relaxation of the curfew imposed on Jos North Local Government Area, now set from 10 PM to 5 AM daily, starting May 13, 2026. This decision was made following consultations with security agencies and an assessment of the security situation, which has reportedly improved.

The announcement was made by Joyc Ramnap, who signed the statement on behalf of the government. Residents are urged to remain law-abiding and vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to security agencies.

The curfew was initially imposed on March 29, 2026, after violent attacks that resulted in several deaths and injuries. Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the attacks as barbaric and unprovoked, assuring residents that the government would intensify efforts to prevent further violence and ensure the apprehension of those responsible.

The curfew was later adjusted on April 8, allowing residents to engage in lawful activities from 6 AM to 6 PM.
