Following violent attacks in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, the Plateau State Government, led by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has announced a partial relaxation of the curfew initially imposed. The curfew will now be in effect from 3 PM to 7 AM daily, beginning April 1, 2026. This adjustment allows residents to move freely during the relaxed hours while security agencies continue to monitor the area to ensure stability. The government has urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant, emphasizing the importance of law adherence as they work to restore peace in the affected community. The attacks, which occurred on a Sunday evening, involved suspected terrorists dressed in military uniforms who opened fire on residents, particularly around a busy market area, escalating fears among the local population. A statement from the government, issued by Commissioner Joyc Lohya Ramnap, expressed appreciation for the residents' patience and cooperation during the curfew period.
