Bauchi Evacuates 64 UNIJOS Students Amid Violence

In response to recent violence in the Angwan Rukuba area of Plateau State, which reportedly left 27 people dead, Bauchi State has evacuated 64 students from the University of Jos (UNIJOS). The evacuation was initiated after a distress call from Moham Suleiman, the president of the National Union of Bauchi State Students, who alerted authorities about students being trapped in their hostel.

Hadiza Kango, the State Commissioner for Higher Education, confirmed the evacuation on Friday, stating that the government acted swiftly to ensure the students' safety. She emphasized the importance of keeping parents and guardians informed and expressed gratitude for the cooperation in rescuing the students.

Moham Abdulwahab, a student leader, also confirmed the deployment of security personnel to facilitate the evacuation. The state government’s prompt response was commended amid heightened security concerns due to the ongoing crisis in Plateau State.
