Taraba State Evacuates Students from Plateau Amid Attacks

The Taraba State Government, under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefa, has commenced the evacuation of students from Plateau State amid rising security concerns following recent attacks. The initiative involves deploying 16 Hummer buses, accompanied by security escorts, to facilitate the safe relocation of Taraba State students stranded in the area.

This decision was influenced by reports from the National Union of Taraba State Students (NUTAS), which highlighted the increasing tension and safety fears for students residing in the affected region. A letter signed by Sankun Solomon Gam, the Assistant Secretary General of NUTAS, was sent to Governor Kefa, requesting immediate action for the evacuation.

Governor Kefa emphasized the administration's commitment to the welfare of Taraba indigenes, particularly students pursuing education both within Nigeria and abroad, stating that safety and academic progress remain top priorities. The evacuation effort has been widely praised as a proactive response to safeguard lives and prevent further disruption to students' education in light of the unrest.
