Lagos Evacuates 230 Students from University of Jos

In response to the deteriorating security situation in Plateau State, the Lagos State Government has evacuated 230 students from the University of Jos. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the evacuation, which involved the deployment of buses with security escorts to ensure the safe return of the affected students.

The evacuation was deemed necessary to safeguard the lives of Lagos indigenes studying outside the state. A statement issued by Mamud Hassan, Director of Public Affairs, highlighted that the safety of citizens, particularly the youth pursuing education, remains a top priority for the administration.

The government commended security agencies for their cooperation in facilitating the evacuation without further incidents. Parents and guardians were urged to remain calm, and upon arrival, students will be debriefed and checked for well-being before reuniting with their families.

The Lagos State Government will continue to monitor the situation in Plateau State and ensure the swift return of peace and stability.
