Jang Declares Plateau Still PDP State, Disowns Wike Faction

David Jonah Jang, the former governor of Plateau State, declared that Plateau remains a stronghold of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and disowned the faction led by Nyesom Wike. Jang's comments followed a parallel congress held on March 17, where Peter Tongshep was elected as chairman by Wike's faction, which he described as a "kangaroo congress." Jang emphasized that the congress lacked legitimacy and was orchestrated by individuals seeking power for themselves, undermining the party's structure.

He reaffirmed that Raymond Dabo, elected in the October 2025 congress, remains the authentic chairman of the PDP in Plateau State. Jang urged genuine party members to stay united and focus on resolving internal issues rather than complicating them.

He expressed hope for a resolution in ongoing crises at the national level and condemned actions that could harm the party's integrity. Jang's statements were made on behalf of the PDP's media consult, Clinton Garuba Mondai.
