Plateau PDP Suspends Wike-Backed Chairman Peter Tongshep

The Plateau State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Raymond Dabo, announced the suspension of Peter Tongshep, the newly elected chairman aligned with the Wike-backed faction. Tongshep was elected alongside 38 executive members on Tuesday, with the aim of ensuring the party's survival.

The suspension, effective immediately, was communicated through a statement signed by the state public secretary, Choji Felix Dalyop. It cites Tongshep's conduct as falling under section 58(1)(j) of the party's 2017 constitution amendment.

The suspension was enacted pursuant to the powers vested in the state working committee (SWC) under section 57(1) of the same constitution. During the suspension period, Tongshep is barred from performing his duties as the southern zone vice chairman of the PDP in Plateau State.

The matter has been referred to the party's disciplinary committee for further investigation.
