POCACOV Educates 400 Students on Responsible Choices

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) conducted a sensitisation programme for approximately 400 students at the Police Children School in Ikeja on September 30, 2026. The event, themed “Right Choices, Great Future,” aimed to educate young people on the importance of making responsible choices and avoiding cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices.
Mr Henry Bassey, a member of POCACOV, encouraged students to be law-abiding and maintain communication with trusted adults when facing peer pressure or challenges. Dr Hezekiah Akinlade, a mental health expert from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), warned students about the dangers of drug and substance abuse and urged them to resist negative influences.
SP Olivia A. Ugochukwu, the POCACOV Coordinator for Lagos State, emphasized the need for students to focus on their education, choose friends wisely, and respect authority figures. The programme is part of a broader strategy to engage youth early in preventing anti-social behaviour in Lagos State.
