Poland Allows Work Without Permit for Select Nationals

The Polish government has confirmed that citizens from four specific categories can work in Poland without needing a work permit, thus enjoying employment rights comparable to Polish citizens. The categories include citizens from the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) countries such as Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, Swiss citizens, and UK citizens who qualify as beneficiaries of Brexit.

The announcement was made on the official website of the Polish government, clarifying that this exemption is based on existing agreements, including EU freedom of movement rules and bilateral agreements with Switzerland. Additionally, certain qualifying family members of individuals in these categories are also eligible for the same work arrangement.

While these groups do not require prior approval for employment, standard work permit requirements remain applicable to other foreign nationals seeking to work in Poland.
