Kano Police Arrest 123 for Driving Without Plates

The Kano State Police Command arrested 123 motorists for allegedly driving vehicles without registration plates as part of an operation aimed at tackling criminal activities across the state. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, disclosed that the operation, dubbed "Clean Plate," was launched to intercept vehicles lacking proper identification, which criminals allegedly use to evade security checks.

During the enforcement exercise, a 51-year-old suspect was apprehended, and items including a pistol, cannabis sativa, a knife, electrical wire, and 120 lithium batteries were recovered. The police emphasized that the operation is crucial in preventing the exploitation of loopholes by criminals and will continue across all 44 local government areas in Kano State.

Bakori urged vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are properly registered and to obtain standard number plates. He also warned police officers against misconduct during operations, stressing the importance of professional discipline.
