Kano Police Arrest 345 Suspects, Seize 270 Weapons

The Kano State Police Command conducted a series of operations across all 44 local government areas, resulting in the arrest of 345 suspects, including drug peddlers and individuals found with offensive weapons. The operations, coordinated by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori, aimed to dismantle criminal networks and disrupt drug supply chains.

During these operations, police recovered at least 270 dangerous weapons, including knives, cutlasses, and clubs, as well as significant quantities of illicit substances such as cannabis sativa and a lethal mixture known locally as "suck die." Bakori emphasized that these seizures directly reduce the capacity of criminal groups to harm law-abiding citizens and destabilize communities. The operations also enhanced police visibility and response times to distress calls, with a focus on preventing violent crime and gang activities through improved intelligence and rapid deployment capabilities.
