Abuja Police Arrest 14 in Major Car Theft Operation

The Abuja Police Command announced the arrest of 14 suspects involved in a car theft and robbery syndicate, recovering 17 stolen vehicles. This operation, conducted in March 2026, was led by Commissioner of Police Ahm Sanusi and aimed at addressing vehicle theft and related crimes in Abuja.

The suspects were linked to cases of vehicle snatching at gunpoint, with some vehicles already returned to their owners while others await identification. The operation also included an incident on April 10, where police intercepted a suspicious vehicle, leading to a shootout that resulted in the injury and arrest of one suspect, while others fled.

Two female victims were rescued, with allegations of rape against a gang member, Corneliu Abang, who fled the scene. The suspects are in custody and will face charges upon the conclusion of investigations.

Additionally, Pam Joshua was arraigned for circulating misleading videos about bandit attacks in Abuja, highlighting the police's focus on combating misinformation and enhancing public safety.
