Police Arrest 14 Suspects in Bayelsa Community Attack

The Bayelsa State Police, in collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF), arrested 14 suspects in connection with an attack on Ogboinbiri community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. This operation, which took place following credible intelligence, resulted in the recovery of four pump-action guns, three packets of cartridges, and four operational speedboats equipped with engines.

The attack, which occurred last month, led to the death of one person and left several others injured. DSP Musa Moham disclosed these details in a statement on Tuesday.

The operation was part of a broader effort to combat criminal activities in the region, especially after Governor Douye Diri recently dethroned the paramount ruler of Ogboinbiri due to ongoing crises. A dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed in the community to prevent further loss of life.

The police command, led by Iyamah Daniel Edebore, commended the operation's success and reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing crackdowns on criminal elements across the state.
