Bayelsa Police Arrest 26 Suspects, Recover ₦145m Stolen Bus

The Bayelsa State Police Command, under the leadership of Iyamah Edebore, announced the arrest of 26 suspects for various offenses, including unlawful possession of firearms, cultism, attempted armed robbery, vandalism, and advance fee fraud. This operation was part of a directive from Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu to combat crime nationwide.

Among the significant recoveries was a stolen white Toyota Hiace bus valued at ₦145 million, traced back to Lagos. The principal suspect, Anyankpel Ebiowei, was arrested in Warri and led to the apprehension of two others, Alhaji Jibo Aluseyni and Hassan Mumuni, who allegedly purchased the vehicle without proper documentation.

Additionally, three suspects, Lucky Boro, Toni Akpos, and Tari Lokosi, were arrested for attempted armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms during a stop-and-search operation. The police also recovered various weapons and urged residents to support their efforts in ensuring safety in Bayelsa.
