Troops and NDLEA Arrest Eight in Bayelsa Drug Raid

On April 14, 2023, a joint operation conducted by troops from the Nigerian Army's 16 Brigade and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) led to the arrest of eight suspects in Bayelsa State. The operation took place between 10:30 AM and involved multiple locations, including Obunagha, Azikoro, Swali, and Amassoma in the Yenagoa Local Government Area, as well as Southern Ijaw and Ogbia Local Government Areas.

During the raid, security forces recovered a total of 850 grams of cannabis sativa and 11 grams of methamphetamine. The suspects were found in possession of these substances, and the NDLEA is expected to conduct further investigations that may lead to prosecution.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the Niger Delta region.
