Ondo Police Arrest 286 Criminals, Recover 75 Exhibits

The Nigeria Police Force, Ondo State Command, reported the arrest of 286 criminal suspects between January and March 2026, with 75 exhibits recovered during this period. The suspects are alleged to be involved in various crimes, including 30 kidnappings, 10 murders, 15 unlawful possession of firearms, 17 armed robberies, five rapes, and 41 cult-related offenses.

State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adebowale Lawal, disclosed this information on Friday at the command's headquarters in Akure.

The arrests were achieved through intelligence-led operations and sustained patrols, emphasizing community collaboration. Additionally, the police rescued eight kidnapping victims during this time.

Lawal highlighted the need for religious leaders to suspend night worship activities due to security challenges, advising them to consult with security agencies for safety. He urged the public to provide credible information to enhance the fight against crime, emphasizing that cooperation with security agencies is essential for effective crime tackling.
