Police Arrest 33 Suspects in Kwara Church Attack

On November 20, 2025, police arrested 33 suspects connected to a violent attack on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, which occurred on November 18, 2025. The attack led to the deaths of at least three worshippers and the kidnapping of 38 individuals, including the pastor.

The suspects were apprehended during coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi states, following investigations into the incident. DCP Anthony Placid disclosed that the suspects are members of a criminal network involved in various crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, culpable homicide, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The police recovered significant items, including an anti-aircraft launcher, seven AK-47 rifles, and 32 rounds of live ammunition. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the country, with further investigations to apprehend fleeing gang members.
