Police Arrest 42 Miners After Kwara Monarch's Abduction

In Kwara State, police have arrested 42 illegal miners in connection with the abduction of traditional ruler Oba Salman Aweda Olayinka from Ifelodun Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when armed terrorists broke into the palace, demanding money.

The miners had reportedly paid money to the monarch before the abduction. Following the incident, the police, led by Mr.

Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the arrests but could not ascertain if the abducted monarch was among those detained. The local government chairman, Abdulrashe Yusuf, expressed concern over the rising insecurity in Kwara South and stated that efforts are underway to collaborate with security agencies to ensure the safe return of the monarch.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq emphasized the administration's commitment to improving security in the area, which has heightened fears among residents. The terrorists are reportedly demanding a ransom of N400 million for the monarch's release.
