Bauchi Police Arrest Man for Defiling Nine-Year-Old Girl

Musa Garba, a 60-year-old man, was arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl in the Magama Gumau area of Toro Local Government Area. The arrest was disclosed by CSP Nafiu Habib, the spokesperson for the command, in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday.

The case was reported to the Toro Division Police Headquarters on May 8, 2026, after the victim's father, aged 47, complained that Garba had lured his daughter to a hideout on May 7, 2026, at 4 PM. Following the complaint, the police swiftly arrested the suspect, who voluntarily confessed to the offense during interrogation and admitted to committing similar acts against the victim on several occasions at different locations.

The victim was taken to a general hospital in Toro for medical examination and treatment. The police are continuing investigations and efforts to apprehend any other suspects involved.

Sani Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police in the state, condemned the act and reaffirmed the command's zero-tolerance stance against crimes involving children and sexual gender-based violence.
