Police Arrest Cultist, Recover Gun in Ekiti State

On August 7, 2023, at approximately 11:45 pm, the Ekiti State Police Command arrested a 26-year-old suspected cult member named Sunday Samuel in Efon Alaaye, located in the Efon Local Government Area. The arrest followed credible intelligence received by police operatives at the Efon Division regarding Samuel's presence in the area.

Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, confirmed that during the arrest, a locally made single-barrel gun loaded with one cartridge and a mobile phone were recovered from the suspect. The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Michael Falade, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ado Ekiti for further investigation.

Abutu assured residents of the command's commitment to preventing cult-related activities and other criminality, urging the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to the police as security operations continue.
