Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Cultist with Firearm

On July 4, 2026, the Lagos State Police Command arrested a 27-year-old male suspected cultist named Yusuf Lamina Adigun during a routine stop and search operation in the Ijaiy Ojokoro area of Lagos. During the search, police recovered a locally made pistol loaded with live cartridges from Adigun.

Following preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity and disclosed details of an alleged plan to attack individuals. The police confirmed that Adigun remains in custody as investigations continue, with efforts ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal group.

Additional weapons were reportedly recovered from the suspect. The command, led by CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed its commitment to tackling violent crime and cultism in the state, urging residents to support law enforcement by providing credible information to prevent crime and ensure safety.
