Suspected Cult Leader Akinwal Tomiwa Arrested in Ondo

Akinwal Tomiwa, known as Bella, was arrested by the Ondo State Police Command's Special Anti-Cultism Squad on a credible intelligence operation in Akure. He is identified as the alleged leader of a notorious cult group, Eiye Confraternity, operating around Rufu Giwa Polytechnic in Owo.

The arrest occurred after the police received information about Tomiwa's presence near NEPA Junction, leading to a successful apprehension without incident. Preliminary investigations link him to the killing of student Ojo Peter on December 12, 2025, which has raised concerns within the community.

The police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, noted that Tomiwa had recently been featured on social media platforms related to cult activities and was involved in an attack against members of a rival cult group, Aiy Confraternity. During the arrest, several items believed to be used for protection and intimidation during cult activities were recovered, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members associated with Tomiwa.
