Delta Police Arrest Cult Leaders Linked to Murder Case

The Delta State Police Command has arrested cult leaders linked to a murder case in Ughelli. The operation, led by Commissioner of Police Julius Robinson, was initiated following credible intelligence regarding the suspects' whereabouts.

On March 6, 2023, police arrested Joshua Okpogona, a 30-year-old identified as the current leader of the Suprem Vike confraternity, and Raphael Omokerh, a 37-year-old known as "Black Python," who is a former leader of the cult group. These arrests are connected to a murder that occurred on January 15, 2023, in the Iwhrekpokpo area of Ughelli.

Additionally, on March 8, police conducted a raid in the Umunaji area near the Stop Abort junction in Asaba, leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Chukwudi Ekenna and the recovery of firearms, including a Beretta pistol and two locally made guns. Commissioner Aina Adesola reassured residents of ongoing efforts to combat cultism and urged public cooperation to ensure safety in Delta State.
