Bauchi Police Arrest Eight Suspected Thugs in Crackdown

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested eight suspected street thugs as part of an operation to curb violent crime and maintain public order. The arrests occurred on May 29, 2026, following clashes between rival groups in the Sabuwar Kasuwa and Railwai areas, where armed youths engaged in violence.

SP Ahm Wakil disclosed that the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) was established to address such incidents. During a routine patrol, the VCRU received credible intelligence about the clash, which involved armed individuals using sticks and cutlasses, blocking the main road near Fadan Bayam in Jahun.

The team swiftly responded, dispersing the hoodlums and restoring normalcy. Abdulaziz Hashim, aged 16, was arrested with a cutlass, leading to the identification and arrest of seven additional suspects, including Moham Abubakar (21), Ibrahim Almustafa (15), Ahmad Rufai (14), Umar Isiyaka (16), Habir Umar (18), and Aliyu Babangida (15).

The police are continuing their investigation and efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the group. CP Sani Omolori Aliyu commended the VCRU for their swift response and reaffirmed the command's commitment to dismantling criminal gangs to ensure public safety.
