Bauchi Police Launch Violent Crime Response Unit

The Bauchi State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling violent crime by launching a Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU). This initiative was inaugurated by the State Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori, on Tuesday.

The unit is designed to address emerging security threats, particularly kidnapping and armed robbery. Omolori emphasized that the VCRU will operate strictly within the law, respect human rights, and work closely with the community.

A total of 54 officers have successfully passed a rigorous screening process and will undergo intensive training in areas such as human rights, professional conduct, and law enforcement procedures. CSP Abdulrazak Musa has been appointed to command the unit.

The initiative also includes the establishment of a civilian oversight board to enhance transparency and public trust. The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu, praised the police command for its dedication to safeguarding lives and property, while Governor Bala Mohammed expressed support for the security efforts in the state.
