Four Arrested for Theft of Electricity Infrastructure in Calabar

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged vandalism and theft of electricity infrastructure in Calabar. The arrests were confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, on Friday.
The suspects include a principal suspect, aged 36, and three others apprehended during a follow-up operation. This action followed the interrogation of one suspect, prompting police operatives to extend their search to Murtala Mohammed Highway, around Pepsi, and a dumpsite in the Harbour area of Calabar.
Initially, five individuals were arrested for questioning, but two were released after preliminary investigations found them not culpable, leaving three additional suspects in custody. State Commissioner of Police Ajo Ordue reiterated the command's commitment to protecting critical public infrastructure and vowed to ensure that anyone found guilty of vandalism or unlawful possession of stolen electricity materials would face legal consequences.
He urged the public to provide credible information to assist the investigation.
