Six Arrested for Vandalizing Power Cables in Osun

The Osun State Police Command arrested six suspects for allegedly vandalizing and stealing a high-tension powerline pole at Eko-Ende Junction, Ikirun, Osun State. The arrests occurred following credible intelligence received at approximately 0600 hours.

Police operatives from the Ikirun Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), responded swiftly to the scene where the suspects were found cutting the pole with a cutting machine powered by a generator. The arrested individuals include Onabamiji Emmanuel (55 years, staff member of IBEDC), Bolaji Odusanya (51 years, staff member of IBEDC), Alimi Akeem (36 years, staff member of IBEDC), Balogun Kehinde (52 years, IBEDC security personnel), Oyewo Hammed (31 years, welder), and Oladosu Hammed (22 years, welder).

Recovered exhibits include a cutting machine, a generating plant, and a welding machine. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, has directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, with plans to charge the suspects in court upon completion of the inquiry.
