Osun Police Arrest IBEDC Staff for Vandalism

The Osun State Police Command arrested four staff members of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) and two welders for alleged vandalism and theft of a high-tension powerline pole at Eko-Ende Junction in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government. The arrests occurred following credible intelligence received at approximately 6:00 AM, prompting police operatives from the Ikirun Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), to respond swiftly.

The suspects, identified as Onabamiji Emmanuel (55), Bolaji Odusanya (51), Alimi Akeem (36), Balogun Kehinde (52), Oyewo Hammed (31), and Oladosu Hammed (22), were caught using a generator-powered cutting machine on the pole. Recovered items included a cutting machine, a generating set, and welding equipment.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, with the suspects facing prosecution upon completion of the probe. Zungura reiterated the police's commitment to protecting public infrastructure and urged residents to provide timely information to aid crime prevention.
