Kwara Police Arrest 13 Cultists in Major Drug Bust

On Friday, the Kwara State Police Command, led by Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, announced the arrest of 13 suspects involved in cult-related activities and drug trafficking during a coordinated raid at Tank Junction in Ilorin, the state capital. The operation was conducted following credible intelligence about hoodlums operating under the guise of commercial motorcyclists in the area.

The police identified the location as a black spot for street violence and illicit drug trafficking, which posed a threat to public peace and safety. During the raid, authorities recovered 24 motorcycles and five unregistered vehicles, along with various illicit substances believed to include cannabis sativa, crystal methamphetamine, Colorado, and tramadol.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects used the location as a gathering point for drug peddling and recruiting youth into unlawful societies. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend fleeing accomplices and dismantle the criminal network, with the suspects currently in custody and set to be charged in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
