Police Arrest Four Cultists, Seize Weapons in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of four suspected cultists—Nurudeen Ganiu (34), Oluwalek Fagbula (38), Emmanuel Sila (41), and Nurudeen Abdullahi (41)—during a covert operation in the Egbeda area. This operation was initiated based on credible intelligence that indicated a cult initiation ceremony was taking place at midnight.

The police recovered various weapons, including a locally made cut-size pistol, an English Beretta pistol loaded with ten rounds of live cartridges, and a jackknife. Further investigations revealed that one of the suspects is a notorious cult gang leader and a former university student from Ogun State, who was allegedly expelled in 2022 for cult-related activities.

The gang is linked to acts of thuggery and violent crime in the Egbeda community, often using motorcycles to launch attacks on unsuspecting members of the public. Lagos State Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai commended the operation, describing it as a professional and swift response, reaffirming the command's commitment to tackling cult-related violence.
