Islamic Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Aiding Kidnappers

The Edo State Police Command arrested Jubril Ibrahim, a 52-year-old Islamic teacher, for allegedly preparing charms for suspected kidnappers in the Edo North Senatorial District. Ibrahim was paraded with four suspected kidnappers and six other suspects at the command headquarters in Benin City on Tuesday.
Commissioner of Police Patrick Daor stated that the kidnappers were apprehended in Niger State based on intelligence gathered by police operatives. Ibrahim denied the allegations, claiming he only prayed for one of the suspects, Ahmadu Suleiman, at the request of Suleiman's mother.
Ibrahim acknowledged being aware that Suleiman possessed an AK-47 rifle. Suleiman, 24, confessed to participating in a kidnapping operation in Auchi, detailing how they targeted communities and demanded ransom.
He admitted to receiving N1 million from the Auchi operation. The police also reported the recovery of a stolen vehicle and urged the public to provide credible information to assist in crime prevention.
